One topic: Values
Values are fundamental. They are hidden at the core of our beings whilst simultaneously being visible at the actions from our fingertips; and audible in the words springing forth from our mouths. Aligning what you do, what you say and what you think with your values can be central to living a life in balance - a more contented life.
Two Top Tips For Values
Do: Align your actions with your core values. Ensure your decisions and behaviours reflect what truly matters to you strengthening trust in your relationships and creating greater fulfilment.
Don't: Succumb to external pressure. Avoid hiding or downplaying your values to fit in, allowing fear or doubt to silence your principles.
Three Things I've Found Out From Find Your Why by Simon Sinek:
Find Your Why is Simon Sinek’s follow up to Start with Why. The book provides a guide to the most important step any organisation can take: establishing its purpose through what it values. It begins by helping you unpick your personal values, and then widens its scope to helping the people you work become invested in your organisation's core purpose. The book also addresses various concerns about value led organisations.
Values through relationships: Ask the people you’re closest to what they value about you - what’s your impact on and value to them?
Values through events: Sift through pivotal moments in your history looking for themes that have given you purpose.
Embody your values: Once you’ve established your values, establish HOW you will consistently bring them to life.
Four Further Reads:
Values, Voice and Virtue by Matthew Goodwin

Values by Mark Carney

Core Values by Mike Baxter
This is a short but practical book in which the writer explores how, if values are to genuinely run through an organisation and its culture, there is no quick win approach. Instead, values have to be central to a longer term strategy.
Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess
What happens when society’s values break down? We’d end up with gangs of “droogs” and a world of “ultra-violence.” We’d also end up with a criminal justice system which itself is devoid of morals. This dystopian classic explores modern ideas of crime and punishment.
